New School

I had mentioned in a previous post that Isaac started a new school. Well, he's been there since the beginning of the year, and we love it! He's now going to Christ the King, where my cousin Maritza is the director there. Isaac is in a class with 15 other two year olds, including his second cousin Isabella. Many of my cousins have their kids there as well, so it's very comforting. I find this school to be much more structured. I know what he's doing at each time during the day. And I love that he gets to play outside for 45 minutes each day! He loves the outdoors. He's been learning a lot and we also notice some improvements with his speech. I now have to pack his lunch everyday, which I love :). Ya'll know I'm a control freak and I like to know exactly what he's eating. haha.On Wednesdays, they go to chapel which I also love.

One of the best parts about him going there, is that Maritza keeps an eye on him and I get pictures a couple days a week! Here are some of my favorites that she has sent me.

Midnight Snack

For the first time that we've been checking Isaac's glucose at night, I had to wake him up last night and feed him. It's so scary to think that if I didn't wake him up, he probably would have had another episode. I stayed up late and before I went to bed, I checked it and it was 75. For it only being 12:30, that's pretty low. I checked it again just to make sure and it was 81. That's still pretty low. It's just weird because he's been acting completely normal. Now that the glucose was running low I'm wondering if he's getting sick. Anyway, I woke him up which was a task in itself, and gave him a piece of bread with peanut butter and milk. It was pretty funny to see that even though he was half asleep he had no problem eating the bread. haha. I went back to sleep and woke up 2 hours later to get a normal value.

His pediatrician will be calling the specialists on Wednesday to see if his genetics tests came back. In the meantime, we've got to make sure he gets his cornstarch before bed. I guess we slacked off a bit...well, as long as we stay ahead of the game then we're ok.

Welcoming 2011

Happy New Year to everyone! Our family is in a great place right now. I want to reflect on 2010 for a minute and think about some of ours highs and lows.

-We were in New Orleans the whole year. This was great! We love being closer to family and friends, especially now that we have Isaac. It's amazing how quickly he grows and I've always wanted him to be near loved ones.

-Andrew started school again. He's about to start his third semester at UNO now and is doing great. He's still majoring in electrical engineering.

-Andrew and I had our four year anniversary. And even crazier, we celebrated ten years together! We were so young when we met that I think the odds were against us (especially being long distance for so long!) But, we're doing great and growing together.

-We moved into our own place. It's great to have all our stuff back again and have our own space and yard, and carport...haha.

-Isaac had some health problems. I'm keeping ya'll updated. But, we're staying positive and managing what we can right now :)

-Isaac's in a great school and has a speech therapist. We see some progress with his speech. He tries to say things like "oval" and "apple." He also says "hop" and "hot." His new school is AMAZING. He's only been there for a week, but we love it so far.

-As for me, well...I'm still at the same job. I'm learn more about pediatrics everyday as I try to guide families in the right direction with the nutritional choices. Professionally, I have some plans for this year!

-Oh yeah, did I mention that the Saints won the Superbowl? :)

Overall, we're doing great and can't wait to see what 2011 has in store for our family!! Thank you for being in our lives.

Merry Christmas :)

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with family this year. Goddie stopped by to see us on Christmas Eve during the day and then that evening we had family over. It's tradition to open presents at midnight but Isaac didn't quite make it like last year. He didn't want to nap early. On Christmas morning he opened up presents from Santa and from Tat and Omi. Then we went to Nanny and Poppy's and opened presents there. Later on, we went to see a whole bunch of cousins and got to open even more presents when we got back home! Thank you everyone for being so amazing. We love to spend time with each and every one of you. Love you all :)
