Field Trip: New Orleans Children's Museum

Last week Isaac's class went on a field trip to the Children's Museum. I was excited because it was the first field trip I got to go on with him this year. Surprisingly, we've actually never been to the museum here in New Orleans. Well, I've been when I was younger. Isn't it funny how things seem so big when you're little? :) Anyways, of course Isaac had a blast riding the bus. In the museum he wanted to spend the majority of his time at a little wooden table with trucks, boats, etc. But I did manage to pull him away for all kinds of fun stuff including my favorite...the little grocery store. I was SO looking forward to this. The kids get to pick up items in a tiny little grocery store. They have price stickers and then they can ring themselves up at the registers. I know, I'm a nerd :)

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

A couple weeks ago Andrew chaperoned Isaac's field trip to the pumpkin patch. He had a blast riding the bus, picking out a pumpkin, and of course lunch with daddy! Andrew laughed because he didn't pick a normal pumpkin...he insisted on this butternut squash-pumpkin hybrid (well, I just made that up but that's what it looked like).

Mommy's First Field Trip!

Isaac's old school was so last minute with letting us know about field trips, that I was never able to go. Thanks to Nanny and Daddy though because they chaperoned for him. This year at his new school, they went on one field trip and I was able to go. It was at Storyland in City Park. If you can recall, we went a birthday party there last year and since then, he has gone back a couple of times. He loves it!

I think what was so special about the trip for me, was to be able to watch Isaac interact with the other children. Sometimes I worry that maybe because he's a bit delayed with the speech, that he doesn't get to interact with them. That's definitely not the case! He was talking and playing with them and they were talking to him. We had so much fun! I am so pleased with his new school and so happy that we made the switch. He has had so much progress since then :). Now he'll be starting summer camp next Tuesday then entering the 3 year old class in September! (That is, if he can potty train!) In between, he'll be spending his days with daddy. From the looks of it, they're having a blast.
